The
Panorama
The zone where the "Colli del Trasimeno" (shortly "Trasimeno") DOC wines are produced includes the area of:
Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Paciano, Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno and Tuoro sul Trasimeno.

Include partially the territory of:
Cittą della Pieve, Corciano, Perugia and Piegaro.

All these towns, linked up with the province of Perugia, are situated on the shores of the Lake Trasimeno: the wines denomination indeed originates from it.

This portion of the Umbrian region was in ancient times inhabited by the Etruscans: it seems indeed that those people began growing vine in this zone.

The shape of the hills, the limited level ground and the existence of the lake make the local microclimate helping vine and olive growth.

The Trasimeno Lake is the heart of the territory; it has been defined as "...a touch of melancholy on a sweet, blue, tender beauty with reeds shaking in the wind"; all the trade, agriculture and tourism activities are developing around it.

Wine, oil, cereals and fish are the food eaten by the lake people from many centuries. The earth odour together with the hill gentleness, the simplicity of the stone-built houses and the towns squares rich in history make this zone something special.
